Nestled in the heart of Hawkesbury, Restaurant Vic's is a charming local gem that serves up classic comfort food with a wholesome, homemade touch. Specializing in hearty Canadian-style fare, Vic's offers an inviting atmosphere that feels just like stepping into a friend's cozy dining room—intimate, warm, and unpretentious.
The menu is a celebration of beloved staples, with standout dishes such as the crispy, golden Fish and Chips that strike the perfect balance between flaky white fish and crunchy batter, ensuring each bite is delightfully satisfying without being greasy. For breakfast lovers, the “2 Eggs with 3 Meats” plate is a generous and flavorful start to the day, loaded with savory bacon, ham, or sausage that pairs beautifully with fluffy eggs.
Of course, no visit to Vic's would be complete without sampling their poutine offerings—whether it’s the classic Poutine with fresh curds melting over crisp fries, the indulgent Hot-Dog Poutine, or a Cheese Burger & Poutine combo that marries juicy, well-seasoned patties with the signature saucy fries. Every dish bursts with comforting, familiar flavors executed with care, making it hard not to come back for more.
For those who enjoy variety, the sandwich selection caters to every craving—whether it’s a simple Grilled Cheese or a flavorful Club sandwich stacked with bacon or ham and fresh accompaniments. On the side, homemade soups provide a soothing, savory warmth that beautifully complements the meal. And with Vic’s Specials—like the hearty Breakfast Club or the lunch-friendly combo of Hotdog, Poutine, and Soft Drink—each visit feels like a great value without compromising on quality.
Customers consistently praise Vic's for its friendly, attentive service and quick turnaround, enhancing the overall dining experience. While the intimate setting means it’s a modest-sized spot—more akin to a converted house—it thrives on a welcoming vibe that makes diners feel at home. Visitors particularly appreciate the genuine care in both food preparation and customer interaction, creating a memorable, satisfying meal every time.
One small note to consider: Vic's operates on cash or e-transfer only, which is worth noting before planning your visit. Also, some have found the portion sizes, like home fries or pancakes, on the lighter side, making it perfect for those seeking a balanced meal rather than an overwhelming feast.
Ultimately, Restaurant Vic's stands out as a must-visit for anyone in Hawkesbury craving authentic, comforting Canadian classics served with a smile. It's a hidden wonder that delivers flavourful, no-fuss dishes, creating an experience that lingers warmly well beyond the last bite.
This restaurant is a hidden wonder ! Wouldn't have thought to find one there, but someone talk to me about it, and that person wasn't lying when she said the burger and poutine were amazing ! The service was perfect too, very friendly. I highly recommend ! The only down point, for me, is that I don't often have the time to go, because of the opening hours, which isn't matching well with my schedule. But when I do get the chance, I don't hesitate !
Cute little spot great food, fast service, good prices.
Took my family here for breakfast before heading to Plattsburgh to do some US shopping. It is a very small place. More like a house converted into a restaurant. Service was quick, waitress was extremely friendly. Breakfast was good. I thought the meat (balogna) was cut too thing and the home fries was too small of a portion. My daughter had a pancake and it was very thin.
A great place to grab lunch in the Hawkesbury area. I had their fish and chips which was delicious and not too oily. The serving size was generous and the price was reasonable. The service was fast and friendly. Note that they only accept cash or e-transfer.
Supe cute, super affordable, really nice waitress and good food! What a sweet experience.
Incredible! You're on a street that looks residential... But wait, that small unassuming building contains love in the form of food. Ordered 2 eggs over easy, with bacon and baloney and a side of pancakes. I judge breakfast places by their potatoes and man were these good! No used-oil aftertaste I associate with diners, perfectly crisp bacon, do yourself a favor and try the baloney. And for the price! The pancakes are soft and lacey, service is wonderful. I wished I lived nearby for this meal, I'd go every day. I always think I'm too hard on breakfast places, but Restaurant Vic's lived up to and exceeded my expectations. I cleared my plate in record time. No wonder the place has been running for 47 years! If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and get breakfast here.
I was there a few weeks ago for breakfast. It's a very small restaurant, with a few tables. The food tasted great, though the portions were small. It's inexpensive, so order extras if you like to have a big breakfast. The waitress was polite and friendly. I will go back. I recommend.
Great spot for lunch! Quick service and a good selection to chose from even for take-out. It is cash only though, as long as you come prepared it's not a problem
